Good afternoon Magic families,
Firstly, we would like to thank you all for your prompt communication with your Team Managers yesterday evening to help us identify teams that can not or will not be participating in the Term 3 Winter Season.

Given the new restrictions that were put in place yesterday, it is with great disappointment that as a club we have had to make a decision that all Magic teams will be withdrawing from the BMBA’s Term 3 Winter season.

We had an overwhelming response from Magic families that players were either locked down in Melton and surrounding areas and therefore couldn’t participate, or parents chose for their child/ren not to play due to health concerns with the current Covid-19 situation.

This was not an easy decision to make as we know how many of our players (and families) were looking forward to getting back on the court and back into a ‘normal’ routine again. We understand that this will be disappointing but the health and safety of our Magic families is paramount. The availability and access to training venues was also a contributing factor in our decision.

Many of our coaching staff or Team Managers live in lockdown areas. There was also simply not enough players that were willing or could participate for us to go ahead with the season. We can’t possibly enter teams when there are only 1-3 players that can play.

We value the opinion of our members and once again thank you for communicating with your Team Manager. We care about our members and appreciate your loyalty to our club. We are looking forward to returning with full teams in Term 4 for the Summer season, if restrictions allow.

We have communicated our decision to the BMBA president and are now waiting for a decision to be announced by the BMBA about the season and whether other clubs have been forced to make the same decision as us.

In regards to all of the families that had paid and registered, we will work this out and be in contact about how this will come back to you or be rolled over for the Summer season. We appreciate your patience as we work through this with the BMBA.

We will keep you updated as things change. I’m sure you can appreciate how challenging this has been and we thank you all in anticipation for your understanding!
